Time Regulation on Mantle, Wall or Cuckoo Clock…

Posted By admin on March 1, 2012

David explains how to adjust the pendulum to regulate the time on a Mantle, wall, or even Cuckoo Clock. Make your clock run faster or slower depending on how you adjust the pendulum.
1) Set the time on the clock equal to the time on your watch or another clock preferably digital.
2) Determine after a day or so if you clock is running slow or fast.
3) Open the back of the clock so that the pendulum is exposed.
4) adjust the “bob” on the pendulum by tightening or loosening the end nut that moves the bob’s position on the pendulum. Usually to tighten makes it run faster, lost-en to run slower.

David explains there are many reason why a cuckoo clock will stop,
but here are the most common ones:

1) Be sure the bird is not hitting the doorway on its way in or out from cuckoo-ing. There can not be obstructions, also check the door lock.
2) Check to be sure the hands (minute and hour) are not rubbing on each other or the dial. This can stop your clock.
3) Be sure the lifting wire attached to the top of the bellow is not on top of the tail of the bird. (that does not read well, check out the video for clarification.)
4) Be sure the chains are on the ratchets correctly and not kinked.
2)

Things you should know about your grandfather clock…

Posted By admin on March 1, 2012

David shows the “Things you should know about your grandfather clock”:

1) The clock should be level. That is how it is times out and prepared before it is sold. Check by placing a level on the frame of the clock. Adjustments can be made under each of the four corners of the base of the grandfather clock.
2) The clock must be wound. Wind all posts. If you get friction, stop so your do not do more damage.
3) The clock may have a silent or On/Off switch hidden on the perimeter of the face of the clock.
